Montanares was born in Morelia, Michoacán — an honest expression of handcrafted mezcal, grounded in the earth, rooted in tradition, and guided by a forward-looking spirit.

Since November 2024, we’ve set out with a clear vision: to share a mezcal that honors its origin, respects its process, and embraces the time it takes to make it right. Our debut spirit is a blend of Tequilana and Inaequidens agave — a union that captures the soul of our land and reflects our commitment to craft with patience and intention.

At the heart of each batch is José Valente Pérez Rodríguez, our Maestro Mezcalero and the fourth generation in a family of mezcal makers. His expertise and reverence for each stage of production turn every bottle into more than just a drink — it becomes a vessel of identity and heritage.

Montanares is certified by the Consejo Mexicano Regulador de la Calidad del Mezcal, A.C., under NOM-M1103C, a mark of authenticity and dedication to quality.
